Karen M. Taggart
      Karen M. Karie Taggart, 51, of Silver Creek, passed
away on Saturday (Dec. 3, 2011) at Buffalo General
Hospital in Buffalo, NY.
 Born in Silver Creek on Sept. 12,
1960, she was the daughter of Roger Kavulak and Marietta
(Muscarella) Wells.
       Karen graduated from Silver Creek High School with
the Class of 1978. A member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church in Silver Creek, she was very active in the Silver
Creek Little League, where she was a board member and
helped run fundraising and concessions. Her hobbies
included crocheting, cooking, working crossword puzzles,
and playing Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune. She also
was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan.
       Karen's world revolved around her family and the
neighborhood children. She loved her job as store manager
for Smiths True Value in Irving, NY for more than 27 years.
She also had an affinity for shopping, especially for shoes.
       Karen is survived by her husband, Thomas E.
Taggart, whom she married in 1983; her parents, Marietta
(Donald) Wells of Silver Creek and Roger (Louise) Kavulak
of Lakeview; three sons, Ryan T. (Trista Walker) Taggart of
Perrysburg, NY, Sgt. Matthew A. Taggart of Fort Riley,
Kan., and Jeremy S. Taggart (Katie Pero) of Silver Creek;
four sisters, Kathleen A. Kavulak of Silver Creek, Kelly A.
(Michael) Popard of Forestville, Lynn (Michael) Williams of
Silver Creek and Dee Olkowski of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother,
Eric D. (Mindy) Kavulak of Derby, NY; four grandchildren,
Samuel, Ruthie, Keagan and Bailee Taggart; and several
nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
       Karen was predeceased by her maternal and paternal
grandparents.
       Friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel,
160 Central Ave., Silver Creek today (Dec. 6, 2011) from
2-4 and 7-9. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at
the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 followed by
a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel Church, Silver Creek, NY. Interment to follow in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Karens
