Thomas Ognen
Thomas Ognen, 71, of Silver Creek died Thursday
(Nov. 10, 2011) at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving. He was
born April 20, 1940 in Gowanda, the son of the late
Michael and Ellen (Sobenovich) Ognen.
Tom worked as a steel hauler for many years and
owned and operated his own truck. He was a member of
the Teamsters Union. Tom was a licensed pilot, enjoyed
boating, fishing and casinos and could fix almost
everything.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his
wife, Clara Ognen. Survivors include his beloved
companion, Wilma; his children: Tim (Carol) Ognen of
Gowanda; Chris (Sharon) Ognen of Retsof, N.Y.; Marijo
(Terry) Jimerson of Cottage, N.Y.; John (Laurie) Bifaro
of Silver Creek; and Donald Bifaro of South Dayton; his
sisters: Sophie (Eddie) Nellis; Ilene (Joseph)
Poquadeck; and Mary (Roger) Denea. He is also
survived by nine grandchildren, eight great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Friday (Nov. 18,
2011) at 11 a.m. from the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel
in Silver Creek. Memorial contributions are suggested
to the American Heart Association.
