Dorothy M. Baker
Dorothy M. Baker, 101, of Irving, NY died Tuesday (Oct.
4, 2011) at the Lake Shore Nursing Home. She was born
Sept. 9, 1910 in the Town of Hanover, the daughter of the late
Harry and Mabel (Spears) Newton.
Dorothy was a seamstress for the Van Raalte Co., and
also worked as a waitress for the former Centner's Diner and
Oak Hill Diner, both in Silver Creek.
An avid bingo player, she also enjoyed crocheting and
needlework. Her memberships included the Mt. Carmel Social
Club, Senior Citizens Club, the Garden Club and the Trinity
Lutheran Church Ladies Guild, where she was a member for
more than 65 years, all in Silver Creek.
Survivors include her son, Albert W. (Betty) Baker Jr. of
Silver Creek; a brother, Norman (Shirley) Newton of Irving; two
grandsons, Donald (Trish) Baker and Albert W. (Nancy) Baker
III; seven great-grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer), Scott
(Jennifer), Jennifer (Cory), Alysha, Krista, Jessica and Robert;
and five great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Aubrey, Macy, Ayla
and Skylar.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five
sisters, Edna Cross, Catherine Newton, Gladys Cross, Alice
Stubler and Shirley McMann; and three brothers, Ivy, Donald
and Carlton Newton.
Friends may call from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct.
13, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Porter Ave., Silver
Creek, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Trinity
Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by the Hole-Parker
Funeral Chapel, Silver Creek.
